Drake has graduated from high school. The 25-year-old rapper has one less thing to mope about, revealing that he has finally earned a diploma after dropping out of school in his teens.

"As of tonight I have graduated high school!" Drake announced on Twitter. "One of the greatest feelings in my entire life."

97% on my final exam. 88% in the course. One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!

Years ago, Drake – real name Aubrey Graham – was enrolled at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, in Toronto. But the teenager dropped out of the programme with just one credit left, to help earn money for his family. Drake had nabbed an acting job, on the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. "My mother was very sick," he explained to Complex last year. "We were poor, like broke … The only money I had coming in was off of Canadian TV, which isn't that much money when you break it down."

Earlier this year, Drake decided to go back to finish school, studying by correspondence. Even in the lead-up to August's OVO Fest, he said, he wanted to "spend [his] summer graduating". "I only have one credit left, and I'm really excited about that," he told Now magazine.

This week, the rapper's examination results finally came in. "Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!!" he tweeted.

Drake has sold more than 5m albums worldwide. He has not discussed his plans for college.
