Kerry Earnhardt is best known as the eldest son of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He is also the half-brother of Dale Earnhardt Jr and the father of Jeffrey Earnhardt. It is no surprise that Jeffrey must have been under immense pressure from the word go. Trying to stay true to the Earnhardt legacy, he must have had a fair share of struggles both on and off the track.

But over time, he has grown mentally stronger and, after a gap of nine years, he will get to drive full-time in Xfinity this season.

Recently, Jeffrey had quite the heart-to-heart talk with Dale Jr on The Dale Jr. Download podcast. They touched upon a range of topics, both professional and personal, and he opened up about his relationship with Kerry.

Dale Earnhardt Jr appeals to the emotional side of his nephew

Speaking on the podcast, Dale Jr highlighted how Jeffrey and his father end up in conflict more often than not. When asked why it happens, Jeffrey said, “I think, being too similar. We both wanna think we are right, but in reality, probably we are both wrong.”

The Alpha Prime Racing driver confirmed how Kerry Earnhardt does not take a keen interest in the details of his racing or other regular stuff pertaining to him. In fact, Jeffrey was quick to deny it when asked if he purposely keeps everyone at arm’s length. However, he admitted how he feels comfortable in his own space and that staying independent has helped his cause.

That being said, Dale Jr put him in the spot when he asked if he would like to hear more from Kerry. To this Jeffrey said, “It wouldn’t be bad you know.”

There have been a lot of ups and down in Jeffrey and Kerry’s relationship, and even Junior was surprised to hear that, given he’s known the latter well. Though, the “Pied Piper” of Daytona acknowledged that being Kerry’s son could come with its own set of challenges.

Jeffrey once tried his hand at an off-NASCAR activity

Very few people know that the 33-year-old once took part in the MMA. With a lot going on in his life, especially with his struggles in racing, Jeffrey tried on this new venture for a short while in 2012.

Interestingly, he registered a win on his MMA debut. While speaking on the podcast, Jeffrey highlighted that the combat sport helped him improve mentally. In fact, he expressly admitted how it had helped him build a strong character.
